Webinar organized by the MSU Bachelor of Event Management(hons) Degree students
Bachelor of Event Management students at MSU & MSI successfully held an event titled. “The Future of the Event Industry, Looking Ahead at a New Normal ” This was a trending topic because the Covid 19 pandemic had a significant impact on Sri Lanka’s event industry. Furthermore, the event could draw a large audience, including both local and international students studying in the field of Event Management.
On behalf of the University, the organizing team would like to express our gratitude to MSU & MSI President Prof. Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid, Senior VP for Post Graduate Studies Prof. Dr. Ali Khatibi, Director MSI Mr. Sam Peiris, and Lecturer/ Programme Manager Mr. Ali Abdulla Idroos & Lecturer Ms. Kasunka Muthumala for their leadership and assistance in making this event a success.
The webinar was focused on exploring specialized knowledge and innovative practices in the Event Industry, (post covid 19), with the key objective: to serve as an incentive of reigniting hope to all stakeholders of the Event industry, in overcoming this challenge and thriving in the foreseeable future.
The webinar on “The Future of the Event Industry”, was addressed by keynote speakers from diverse sectors of the industry, including Mr. Roshan Wijeyaratne, Founder Managing Director of Event Productions (Pvt) Ltd and President of Event Management Association of Sri Lanka, who addressed the topic of New Technological Advancement in the industry, while Ms. Paddy Paul, Managing Director of
Golden Isle Travel Pvt Ltd, provided an insight on the Emerging Event Trends faced in the present environment. In conclusion, Mr.Ruwan Ratnyake Founder & Chairman of Leopard Nest & Beyond Escapes, provided everyone present, with an inductive insight on the strategic survival of the industry, during this global crisis.
The webinar was attended by nearly 300 stakeholders of the Industry, including students from MSU Malaysia and other local land private Universities, SMEs and the general public. Along with the discussion of issues and challenges, the webinar mainly focused on solutions faced by them post covid-19.
