A global framework for existence must include partnerships for the goals, high quality education, as well as wellbeing. It matters how decent work and economic growth lead with life on land to prolong with the proper consistency of our system. So does believe in the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Recently, alumni and students of Management and Science University (MSU) Colombo campus have respectfully adhered to these UN SDGs with the support of MSU Malaysia main campus; by cascading events on the memorable two days of 22nd and the 23rd of July by performing significant proceedings.
On July 22, the group of students and MSU Colombo Alumni Chapter led a tree-planting initiative at Colombo’s Vihara Mahadevi Park. Whereas the annual conference for PhD students and alumni members was held at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo with the distinguished academicians.
MSU and MSI President Professor Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid and MSU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid were present during the event’s launch.
Also involved were students of Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management (Hons) who planted over hundred trees at the Colombo Port city areas in the event of celebrating the World Tourism Day 2023.
Instilling a culture of excellence among students as well alumni is one of the most important aspects in producing competent, versatile, and holistic graduates. MSU also held a reception to celebrate the success of its alumni. The alumni involved is comprised of those who are outstanding in academic and profession from various areas of specialization.
The Academic Excellence Awards 2023 and the Industry Professionalism Awards 2023 is a prestigious award to cultivate a culture of excellence amongst MSU alumni.

On July 23rd, the President and Vice Chancellor of MSU were attended the President and Deans List Award ceremony which was held at MSI Colombo Auditorium to celebrate the success of its students. A total of 103 diploma and degree students involved is comprise of outstanding students pursuing their diploma and bachelor’s degree levels from various areas of specialisation.
MSI developed their library facility to match on 21st century education which opened to the students by the President and Vice Chancellor on the same day. A meet and greet session between the President and Vice chancellors with the academicians and support services staff of MSI. This year, 14 academicians have been identified to for the certificate of appreciation ceremony.
MSI made further history by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the day with some key organizations with aimed to provide academic support for the Sri Lankan organizations and to provide internships to the students at MSI.
“Signing the MoU is not merely a contract it should go on with Sustainable Development Goals and the necessity of understanding between two parties with their mutual interest and altruism. That is what really should serve through an MoU. It’s to develop the education industry which comes as a meritorious act and I am so elated to see that MSU walks that extra mile to fulfil the needs of quality education” said the Professor Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the President of Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia and Management & Science Institute (MSI) in Colombo at the press conference which was held for Sri Lankan leading media about the future of the education industry.
Further the students of the Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management programme has symbolized the medial donations to Apeksha Hospital at Maharagama.
